Team Placement Stuntworx Elite 25/26
unless To apply for team placement you must select the general team placement form. There will be a section to fill out that will determine if you wish to be placed on more than one team, or on a team that will travel internationally. If you wish to tryout for Alliance you MUST fill the Level 5 Application form.
We are also accepting interest forms for our Level 7 monthly team. This is NOT a worlds team but a development team to once again drive higher level athletes to strive for the top of our industry. Level 7 athletes can be part of our level 5 programme also. Details below.
Team Placements will be run differently this season! We believe athletes thrive in the teams in which they are placed when they are with like-skilled athletes, in peer-age groups and with a coach who understands their abilities. After the success of our lower level teams, we believe the days of chasing a higher number after your team name are gone, replaced with the desire to be placed on a team with the hardest working athletes in the gym.
This season, current athletes will be invited to trial a group that we feel suits your ability and peer group. It is up to each athlete to show that they are capable of what we believe. Remember that moving across levels each season is not how cheer works. See our example below!
Crossovers:
You may be offered a position on 2 teams IF you have selected the crossover option OR you have been selected for a level higher than your current skills. If you turn down your crossover position you will only have the option of the lower level team. This is because we believe you need more work to achieve your potential and the technique for higher levels is learned at the lower levels.
Unhappy with Team Placement:
If an athlete is unhappy with a team placement what can they do? You must understand the criteria for successful cheer teams before you can understand the team placement. For an athlete to be placed at level 3, they need to be working the hardest level 2 stunts and tumbling where necessary. Placing an athlete in a level where they are struggling all season is abuse.
Sometimes, we make mistakes so if an athlete has all the criteria for a level 2 team, but is placed only on a level 1 team, please ask. If an athlete has none of the criteria for a level 2 team for example, stunting at extended level, back handspring and round off back handspring, and has been placed on a level 1 team, then this is the correct placement for them.
Remember we are successful at our lower levels and they are more competitive than teams at a higher level. Being incorrectly placed on a team with athletes more skilled than you is not a good feeling and will be demoralizing. We want to create successful teams of athletes at an age group of their peers. And remember Level 1 Youth IS THE SAME LEVEL as Level 1 Junior or Level 1 Senior. Older age group does not mean a higher level.
Induction athletes new to COMPETITIVE cheer or athletes new to the club:
If you are a brand new member of Stuntworx Elite, you need to create a parent portal account here before you can train with the club including for tryouts. Once you are selected for a team we will activate your profile.
Tryouts are for all athletes who wish to be placed on a competitive team. Athletes who are under 7 do not need to attend tryouts as it can be a stressful experience for this age group. You may be best placed on a recreational group. If you wish for your young athlete to join a competition team, contact your coach.
INDUCTION athletes from our beginner cheer program must attend team placements to be considered for a competitive program next season. Please fill out the form if you are sure you wish to attend tryouts.
