Gymnastics Team Placements

All competitive athletes must partake in team placements. Please be aware that not all athletes are required to compete. Our athlete pathways include our Competitive Pathway and our Progression Pathway. Our Progression Pathway is for athletes who wish to participate AND progress through skills and levels, or who wish to just enjoy the sport for the sake of enjoyment. See our pathway below. Note that this season we are adapting our pathways so that ALL athletes progress at the right speed with a Perfection Before Progression policy. We need athletes to be capable of safely completing skills with great technique and without fear or pressure to progress beyond their comfort level. This means that all team names and skills at all levels have changed dramatically. This will help all athletes feel a sense of achievement at their level. Our competitive athletes will also perform at their best.  Please see full details for our team placement on the information pack below.

Competitive Gymnastics Selection Information Pack 2026–2027

We are excited to introduce our new Competitive Gymnastics Pathway at Stuntworx Elite.
This structure has been designed to:

  • Provide clear athlete progression pathways
  • Ensure appropriate training levels for each gymnast
  • Create strong, confident, and technically skilled athletes
  • Support long-term development and competition success

Selection into our competitive programme is based on skill level, physical readiness, attitude, and commitment.

Our NEW Gymnastics Pathway
All athletes progress through structured stages:

Recreational Progressive Pathway
  • Recreational Gymnastics
  • Advanced Rec Gymnastics
  • Elite Rec Gymnastics
Competitive Pathway
Our new Competitive pathway will discard our current Specialty, Development, Pre Team and Squad teams and instead will hyper focus on skills that will be needed to compete at all levels. Our new syllabus includes options for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics WAG, Men’s Artistic Gymnastics MAG, and Tumbling TUM

Progression is not age-based — it is based on ability, consistency, and readiness.

Competitive Programme Overview
Our competitive gymnasts will compete at 2-4 events, as well as any club showcase/showoffs throughout the year.

WAG
Our current teams' structure is all based on WAG (Development, Squad etc). However, we will be splitting our teams further so that we have a chance to fully learn every skill and be competitive at events across Ireland.

Our first new competitive level will be known as Ruby
  • Invitation only
  • Focus: foundational strength, flexibility, discipline
  • Competitive level training and skill building
  • Typical commitment: 2 sessions per week
  • Minimum 2 events

Our next levels are Topaz and Quartz
  • Building competition-level skills
  • Increased strength and conditioning
  • Preparation for full competition pathway
  • Typical commitment: 2–3 sessions per week
  • Compete at 2-3 events

Our next levels are Emerald and Citrine
  • Full competition programme
  • Advanced skill development
  • Typical commitment: 3 sessions per week
  • Compete at all events

TUMBLE
Our new Tumble program will begin at Level 1 - 3 for all athletes.

  • Invitation only
  • Focus: foundational strength, flexibility, discipline
  • Introduction to structured training
  • Typical commitment: 2 sessions per week
  • Minimum 1 event

MAG
We are excited to be offering a brand-new Men’s Artistic program for our male athletes aged 7+.

As this is a new program, all athletes will start at our first competitive level, Ruby.

  • Invitation only
  • Focus: foundational strength, flexibility, discipline
  • Introduction to structured training
  • Typical commitment: 2 sessions per week
  • Minimum 2 events

Team Selection & Placement Dates
Please ensure your child is available for assessment:
  • Assessment Week:
  • June 3rd through 5th.
  • Team Announcements: June 12th.

Further information regarding team placement will be shared closer to the date.

Selection Criteria
Athletes are assessed based on:
  • Skill level and execution
  • Strength and flexibility
  • Coachability and attitude
  • Focus and work ethic
  • Attendance and consistency through the former season
Selection is not guaranteed and is based on readiness for each level. If an athlete is not selected to compete right now, they will still be placed within the competitive stream, preparing to become competitive athletes when they are ready. Some athletes who are brand new may be recommended to spend time in our recreational program. This is absolutely the right decision if your child is not ready.

  • Demonstrate positive attitude and effort
  • Commit to skill progression and conditioning
  • Understand progression will only be allowed when preceding skills are perfected.
  • Attend mandatory events such Saint Patrick’s parade and our annual showcase.

  • Support competition participation

What if my child is not selected? They will continue in a pathway that supports their development and will be reassessed in future.
Can athletes move teams mid-season? This is rare but happens if a coach determines it is appropriate.
